Abuja, Nigeria – The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a 30 to 80 percent salary increase for members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, describing the move as a landmark step toward improving troop welfare and strengthening national security. The revised salary structure, which takes effect from September 1, 2026, will benefit approximately 250,000 personnel of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Under the new pay package, junior-ranked personnel will receive the highest increase, with some earning up to 80 percent more than their current salaries. Police Uncover Fake Diplomatic, Government Number Plate Syndicate in FCT

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has uncovered a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in the production and circulation of fake diplomatic and government vehicle number plates within the nation's capital.
According to the police, the illegal network manufactured counterfeit number plates that were allegedly used by criminals to evade security checkpoints, gain unauthorized access to restricted government facilities, and carry out unlawful activities while posing as government officials or members of the diplomatic community.
The operation followed intelligence gathering and surveillance by security operatives, leading to the recovery of several fake diplomatic and government number plates, as well as materials believed to have been used in their production.
The FCT Police Command said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate, while efforts continue to dismantle the entire network.
Reaffirming its commitment to fighting crime and protecting residents, the Command warned that anyone found producing, selling, or using fake government identification materials or official number plates would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious vehicles or activities to the nearest police station or other relevant security agencies.
