Kaita, a former Nigeria international, said Osimhen’s presence would have provided the national team with additional attacking strength and experience as the Super Eagles prepare for the encounter. OSOGBO — Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he was confident his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, would win the 2026 governorship election, but feared possible manipulation of the electoral process.
Davido made the disclosure while speaking with journalists in Ede, Osun State, following Governor Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 governorship election.
The singer said he never doubted Adeleke’s chances of winning based on the strength of his support among voters. However, he said he remained concerned about the possibility of institutions manipulating the outcome.
“I did not doubt that His Excellency was going to win. I was just a little wary of manipulation by institutions.”
Davido said that if the election was determined strictly by votes, he was certain Adeleke had enough support to emerge victorious.
The singer also revealed that the Adeleke family experienced considerable stress before and during the election as concerns over the credibility and security of the process grew.
Governor Adeleke was declared winner of the election with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Davido had also raised concerns during the election over the uploading of polling-unit results and urged voters to protect their votes and ensure results were properly uploaded to INEC's IReV system.
