Abuja, Nigeria – The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a 30 to 80 percent salary increase for members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, describing the move as a landmark step toward improving troop welfare and strengthening national security. The revised salary structure, which takes effect from September 1, 2026, will benefit approximately 250,000 personnel of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Under the new pay package, junior-ranked personnel will receive the highest increase, with some earning up to 80 percent more than their current salaries.
