Oluremi Tinubu said modern farming methods and access to mechanised equipment would help reduce the physical burden associated with agriculture while improving productivity and making farming more attractive to the younger generation. According to her, women play a significant role in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain and should be supported with the tools, technology, financing and training required to expand their contributions to food production and economic development. TINUBU CELEBRATES SHETTIMA AT 60, HAILS VP AS ‘PATRIOT, TRUSTED ALLY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated Vice President Kashim Shettima as he clocks 60, describing him as a patriot, trusted ally, valued colleague and dedicated public servant.
In a birthday message issued ahead of Shettima’s 60th birthday on Wednesday, September 2, President Tinubu praised his deputy for a life marked by service, commitment and sacrifice to Nigeria.
Tinubu described Shettima as his “brother and partner” in the task of steering the affairs of the nation, while congratulating his wife, Nana, his children, family members and political associates on the milestone.
The President also highlighted Shettima’s distinguished career in banking and his record of public service, first as Governor of Borno State and later as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to Tinubu, Shettima has demonstrated courage, diligence, compassion and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians throughout his years in public service.
President Tinubu further commended the Vice President for his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), his support for the administration and his dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
As Chairman of the National Economic Council, Tinubu said Shettima has provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policy and strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national governments.
The President also praised Shettima’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation, saying his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration.
Tinubu expressed confidence that their continued partnership would contribute to further progress in building the Nigeria of their dreams.
He concluded by praying that Almighty Allah would continue to guide, protect and strengthen the Vice President, granting him wisdom, good health and many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria.

Niger Police Arrest 147 Suspects, Recover Weapons and Cannabis in Statewide Raids

August 14, 2026 The Niger State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects in separate operations targeting criminal hideouts, alleged thuggery and other criminal activities across the state. According to the command, 139 suspects were arrested during raids in Suleja and surrounding areas following an alleged violent rally. Among those arrested, 64 suspects were reportedly found in possession of suspected cannabis, dangerous weapons and four live cartridges. The 64 suspects were subsequently arraigned and remanded in a correctional centre over alleged offences including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and possession of dangerous weapons. In a separate operation in Minna, police operatives arrested eight suspected thugs during raids on criminal hideouts in the Talakawa area of Tunga.
