Oluremi Tinubu said modern farming methods and access to mechanised equipment would help reduce the physical burden associated with agriculture while improving productivity and making farming more attractive to the younger generation. 41-Year-Old Mother of Three Battles Kidney Failure, Begs Nigerians for N40m Lifeline

A 41-year-old mother of three, Omolade Bolaji, is battling severe kidney failure and urgently needs about N40 million to undergo a life-saving kidney transplant.
Bolaji, a caterer who runs a restaurant in Ikorodu, Lagos State, reportedly began experiencing persistent headaches in 2025. After being treated for typhoid at several hospitals, doctors eventually diagnosed her with kidney disease and high blood pressure.
She commenced dialysis in July 2025 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, undergoing treatment twice every week as her condition continued to deteriorate.
Medical test results reviewed by PUNCH reportedly showed that her creatinine level had risen to 14.2mg/dl in May 2026, while her haemoglobin level dropped as low as 6.1g/dl.
The situation became critical last month when Bolaji reportedly fainted at home and remained unconscious for about four days. Doctors subsequently advised the family to begin preparations for a kidney transplant.
Her husband, Olaleye Tubi, said the family has so far raised only about N1.5 million, much of which has been consumed by the recurring cost of dialysis and other medical expenses.
According to the family, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital can perform the transplant for about N30 million with a willing donor, while additional post-operative treatment could push the total cost to approximately N40 million. A consultation with doctors in India reportedly estimated the cost at about N68 million with a donor.
In an emotional appeal, Bolaji called on Nigerians to come to her aid, saying her three children still need their mother.

“I have small children. They still need their mother. Your help is all I need.”
The family is appealing for donations from individuals, organisations, philanthropists and well-meaning Nigerians to help raise the funds needed for the transplant.

Niger Police Arrest 147 Suspects, Recover Weapons and Cannabis in Statewide Raids

August 14, 2026 The Niger State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects in separate operations targeting criminal hideouts, alleged thuggery and other criminal activities across the state. According to the command, 139 suspects were arrested during raids in Suleja and surrounding areas following an alleged violent rally. Among those arrested, 64 suspects were reportedly found in possession of suspected cannabis, dangerous weapons and four live cartridges. The 64 suspects were subsequently arraigned and remanded in a correctional centre over alleged offences including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and possession of dangerous weapons. In a separate operation in Minna, police operatives arrested eight suspected thugs during raids on criminal hideouts in the Talakawa area of Tunga.
