Sam Aboyeji, has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith despite the economic hardship and mounting pressures facing citizens across the country. Aboyeji gave the advice during the first District Convocation and District Anniversary of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Pleasure District, in Lagos. Represented at the event by the Ikeja Axis Coordinator, Rev. Ayomide Abraham, the cleric encouraged Nigerians to continue trusting God for better times while remaining grateful for His provisions.  He acknowledged the economic pressure associated with high petrol prices but urged citizens to also recognise developments in the country, including improvements in infrastructure and access to student loans. BREAKING: Opposition Parties Suffer Major Blow in Jigawa as Hundreds Defect to APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

In a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strengthened its ranks in Jigawa State following the defection of hundreds of members from the Kwankwasiyya Amana Movement, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, formally received the defectors during separate events held on Tuesday, describing their decision as a demonstration of growing confidence in the administration's developmental agenda.
The first group of defectors, led by the Head of the Kwankwasiyya Amana Movement in Jigawa State, Shehu M. Bello, comprised youths, women, and community leaders drawn from all 27 local government areas of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Bello said Governor Namadi's commitment to infrastructure development, inclusive governance, and people-centred policies influenced their decision to abandon the opposition and align with the APC.
In a separate ceremony, the governor also welcomed more than 500 political stalwarts from Maigatari Local Government Area into the ruling party. The group was led by Malam Safiyana Arab Maigatari, a prominent politician who had remained a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 28 years before announcing his defection.
Addressing the new members, Governor Namadi assured them of equal rights and opportunities within the APC, stressing that there would be no discrimination against anyone joining the party.
He urged the defectors to remain united and work collectively with existing party members to advance the development of Jigawa State and contribute to Nigeria's democratic growth.
The latest wave of defections is widely seen as a significant boost to the APC's political strength in Jigawa State, as political parties continue to reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
