ABUJA — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, belongs to his political camp, while asserting that they all ultimately belong to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wike made the declaration on Friday while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing projects in Abuja, against the backdrop of Adeleke’s recent meetings with both the FCT Minister and President Tinubu.
According to Wike, the developments are part of an emerging political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, which he said would produce a broader “Rainbow Coalition” in support of President Tinubu.
Wike dismissed claims by some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that they played a major role in Adeleke’s recent electoral victory, arguing that such individuals were attempting to benefit from a victory they did not create.
He said Adeleke is “fully supporting Mr President”, adding that more political groups would join the emerging alliance in the coming weeks.
“Adeleke belongs to us, and we all belong to Mr President,” Wike said.
The FCT Minister further predicted that the political coalition backing Tinubu would become significantly larger as the 2027 election approaches.
Adeleke’s Meeting With Tinubu Fuels Political Speculation
Adeleke recently met with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa following his victory in the August 15 Osun governorship election. He also visited Wike in Abuja and presented his Certificate of Return to the minister.
The meetings have generated speculation about Adeleke’s political direction ahead of 2027.
However, Adeleke’s Imole Campaign Council has rejected reports that the governor plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his visit to Tinubu as a routine courtesy engagement after the election. The council said the issue of joining the APC was not discussed during the meeting.
Wike: “Watch What Will Happen”
Wike maintained that the political realignment is still unfolding, urging Nigerians to watch developments over the coming weeks.
He predicted the emergence of what he described as a larger national Rainbow Coalition supporting Tinubu’s political ambition in 2027.
The minister also insisted that the 2027 election is far from being concluded, despite his confidence in the strength of the emerging political alliance.
Adeleke’s victory in Osun has already intensified political calculations across the country, with politicians from different parties assessing possible alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
