ABUJA — September 10, 2026 — Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has stressed the importance of agricultural mechanisation in transforming the nation’s agricultural sector, saying it is critical to empowering women, attracting young people into farming and strengthening Nigeria’s food security. Oluremi Tinubu said modern farming methods and access to mechanised equipment would help reduce the physical burden associated with agriculture while improving productivity and making farming more attractive to the younger generation. Trump Hints at Fresh Talks with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un

Date: August 18, 2026
WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump has signalled a possible renewal of direct engagement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, saying Kim has responded to recent U.S. overtures.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, Trump confirmed that Kim had responded when asked whether the North Korean leader had replied to his requests for a conversation. Trump described the contact as “very positive” but did not provide details about when or how the communication took place.
Trump also praised his relationship with Kim, saying the North Korean leader had always treated him with respect. The two leaders held three meetings during Trump's first term, including a historic encounter at the Korean Demilitarized Zone in 2019, but they have not met during Trump's current term.
The latest development comes after Trump ordered a significant reduction in U.S.-South Korean military exercises. Trump has described the exercises as unnecessarily provocative toward North Korea and linked his decision to his relationship with Kim.
South Korea has expressed hope that Trump's outreach could help revive diplomatic engagement with Pyongyang. However, analysts remain cautious, noting that North Korea has continued expanding its nuclear capabilities and strengthening ties with Russia and China.
For now, it remains unclear whether Trump's latest outreach will lead to a formal summit or broader negotiations. The White House has not disclosed further details about Kim's reported response.
